nissan leaf second generation (ZE1) was presented in September 2017 in Tokyo. Official sales in the US and Europe started in February 2018. On the Ukrainian market, the model is officially came out summer 2021.

The five-door hatchback has become more squat - the height of its European version, depending on the modification and tires installed, is 1530 or 1540 mm, which is 5 mm lower former "Lif". An insert appeared on the front that imitates the V-shaped crossover grille X-Trail  And Qashqai, and on the sides of it are more “thin” headlights. The configuration of the taillights has been completely changed - they have received a C-shape and on cars in two-tone design (another generation innovation) they serve as the border between the contrasting colors of the main body and the roof. In addition, the new Leaf is 35 mm longer (4490 mm) and 20 mm wider (1788 mm). However, the wheelbase has not changed - 2700 mm.

"Leaf" of the second generation received a 150 hp engine. and a torque of 320 Nm. And the battery capacity of the basic version reached 40 kWh. Thanks to this, the range in the American EPA cycle has increased to 240 km. Estimated charging time from a 3 kW device is 16 hours. From a 6-kilowatt charge, you can fully recover in 8 hours. And from the fast station, you can restore up to 80% of the charge in 40 minutes.

In January 2019, Nissan introduced a new modification of the second generation Leaf - Leaf e+. It is equipped with a 214 hp engine. and a torque of 340 Nm, and a new on-board charging system, and under the floor it has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 62 kWh. The power reserve of the five-door has grown to 363 km in the EPA cycle.

In the Leaf interior, the design of the front panel, steering wheel and “tidy” has changed, and in the top trim levels, the cupholders on the center panel, the driver’s and front passenger’s legroom, and the door sills have been illuminated. Depending on the level of equipment, the hatch may have a new media complex with a 7-inch touch screen. Such multimedia supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications, and also synchronizes with an updated application for controlling vehicle functions from a smartphone.

The equipment of the electric vehicle includes a new driving assistance system e-Pedal, thanks to which you can speed up or slow down, as well as stop the car, operating with only one pedal. Another innovation is the ProPILOT driving assistance system, which is an adaptive cruise control combined with a lane keeping system on the highway. In addition to this, the “second” Leaf has got the ProPILOT Park system, which parks the car in a fully automatic mode. The electronics are "trained" in parallel, diagonal and perpendicular parking, performed in front or reverse. When the system is activated, the driver does not need to operate the pedals or the steering wheel.

The Nissan Leaf is produced in Japan, the US and the UK.
